One of the first handful of Legends Cars racers to take to the Ovals back in 1998, Chris Pye will return to the Oval Legends Cars series in 2010. Having done the deal to purchase the 1937 Chevy Coupe of Pete Oakley at the Autosport International show, Chris will make his return to the 40+ strong field in a competitive car at the season opening round at Birmingham Wheels on Saturday 20th March.
Chris left the Oval Legends Series in 2001 after nearly 4 seasons. Chris’ best performances were in 1999 when the Hampshire based driver finished on the podium in the 1999 National Championship, having finished 4th, and to top the season managed to finish 4th in the 1999 Points Championship.
Since the last bout of Legends racing, Chris has raced a variety of formulas, including 1300 Stock Cars, Hot Fords, National Bangers and for the past 3 seasons he and his three driver team have been racing Autograss with Southern Autosport Association at Horndean Raceway.
Chris told Short Circuit Magazine “It has been a long decision on what to race this season, something that has taken about 3 months. We were seriously looking at a Ludlow Motorsport prepared Nova Stock Rod to race at Horndean in their 1450 Hot Rod class. We decided to return to the formula we know best and invest in a race car that will hold its value and is easier to keep maintained.”
The purchase of the Legends Car has exhausted the budget they had for the season, and are looking for help in any small or large way, see www.cpmotorsport.co.uk, also any mechanical help would be gratefully received!
Chris Pye, Kallum Pye and Danni Reader will still be racing in the sole remaining Chris Pye Motorsport Mini at Horndean Raceway when the schedule allows. They are aiming to be at approx 50% of the meetings this year.

Chris, Good luck for a very successul season in a competitive Legend.I look forward to watching you race for the first time. Now I have returned to the UK.I am looking forward to getting involved again in the short circuits.
It is a long time since I was at the Wheels.I only raced there once (in the 80′s) in a National Hot Rod and the crowd were on their feet as Pete Stevens tried everything to try and get past me, but failed. One of my most memorable wins.
    Best wishes
    Dad ( Ian Pye)
