While the Gold roof or World Champion in BriSCA F1 Stock Car racing is determined by a one-off race at the end of a long series of qualification the National Series, which determines which driver’s car wears the Silver roof is decided by a race series which features as part of 35 meetings throughout the season. Over the past few years there have been some very tight finishes to the National Series title but for 2009 there is a new, and a very significant twist!
After the first 25 rounds the top ten drivers will then have their scores zeroed and then take part in a ten meeting NASCAR-style shoot-out. It is expected that competition to make the cut will lead to some frenetic race action, with the meeting at Birmingham Wheels on Saturday 12 September being a particular focus. The final round, or Series Finale is the culmination of the 10 meeting Shoot-out carries double points and takes place at Belle Vue on Sunday 1 November. The prize fund for the 2009 National Series currently stands at around £11,000 but it is hoped that the fantastic sponsorship opportunities offered by this race series will add significantly to this.
