When the Oval Legends season gets underway at Hednesford on March 15th it’s quite feasible that there will be something in the region of ten rookies in the grid line up. Ready for the off is #5 Branson Poyner from Worcester in the ex-Dave Baker car. He made it out onto the track in the final points round of last year and therefore notched up the first of his three rookie meetings.
New on the grid this year includes Kevin Kettlewell from Ripon in Yorkshire in a 1937 Ford Sedan. Kevin took delivery of the brand new car at the end of 2008.
Rumours are rife that Barry Randall will be joining Oval Track Legends this year having seemingly gotten the bug from attending many meetings in 2008 with the #161 Dan and #266 Lee Holden team.
Keith Whalley will be picking up his crash helmet again this year after a two year absence from competition and will be running flat out with possibly 7 cars from his Legends lease hire company – Race Car Direct UK. Two of his cars, seen at the Autosport International Show in January, have been signed up by Daniel Hughes, son of #105 Kev Hughes and the other to Mitchell Millward in the 1937 Ford Sedan raced by #242 Martin Heath last year.
